That’s part of it, however big data is where marketers need to focus their efforts so they can take advantage of today’s technology. Regardless of your involvement in paid, owned or earned media, you need to know what’s working and what’s not. That’s where big data come in.
If you’re an old-school marketer, please listen. Big data is not just for the behemoth companies with massive budgets. There are ways to obtain data that will help you make smarter decisions. Automation plays a big part of this. If you are involved in a marketing department that doesn’t make data driven decision and you are only creating content that you think will help generate awareness… hmm, you are in serious trouble. Time to re-write the resume and look for another career – not in marketing.
