When most automobile companies are hyping their self-parking capabilities, hybrid models, Bluetooth features, and early warning systems to name a few; There is one company that truly has lofty goals, far above just the technology. What if I were to tell you there is a company innovating like no other? They believe in their business so much they are not even protecting their technology from the competition. I know, sounds crazy right? Well, not really. A group of Silicon Valley engineers back in 2003 had a vision for electric cars. Now these cars have the world wrapped around their steering wheel. Enter Tesla.
Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport. If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal…. We believe that Tesla, other companies making electric cars, and the world would all benefit from a common, rapidly-evolving technology platform.
Is it possible that innovation isn’t what differentiates your product or technology from your competition, but what creates an opportunity for your competition? This concept isn’t a theory; it’s actually being practiced right now with Tesla Motors. Hats off to Tesla because they care more about how the world can benefit from their technology and innovation than how to protect it. Wow!
Thanks Tesla. Now that’s innovation at its best!
